Aloha Audi - 1987 Audi 4000CS Quattro

March 30, 2017 audi, 4000, quattro

Who knew they had Audis in Hawaii? This one owner 4000CS was initially put into service in Minneapolis where the Quattro system would have been the state of the art in Minnesota snow fighting technology. After 30,000 miles, the Audi (and we assume the original owner) moved to the Maui where the AWD could work its magic on some jungle trails.

Roof Rack Delete: 1988 Audi 5000 S Wagon

March 19, 2017 audi, wagon

Sporting an automatic transmission and lacking the Quattro and turbo of its fancier CS brother, this stripped-down avant might seem like an easy pass at first. Upon further review though, the sleek lines, red paint, and cheap price make us think this 5000 would be a great alternative to something more pedestrian like a 740 if you're in the market for an 80's Euro wagon.

Gas Guzzler Grocery Getter: 2005 S4 Wagon

February 19, 2017 audi, s4, wagon, AWD

Though we're partial to the B5 body style, it's hard to argue with the appeal of the V8, 6-speed, wagon combination found in this B6. This wagon grew up in the mountains, and is currently on offer in Missouri. We're thinking maybe it should continue its trek East to join the Moto Roster garage as a combo daily driver / rubber smoker.

450 HP + Blizzaks: 2003 Audi RS6

December 04, 2016 audi, RS6

This RS6 is at a local dealer that always has an interesting inventory of slightly past their prime, high-end cars. While our prospects of paying nearly $20,000 for a car what will surely prove to be somewhat needy are very low, any car with 450 HP wearing Blizzaks has our attention.

$12,000 for a 4000: 1985 Audi 4000S

November 08, 2016 audi, 4000, quattro

This Audi 4000S spent its life in Switzerland before coming stateside which explains the European '90' badging on it. Its winter tires are currently resting in Florida, but for $12,500 would it be a shame to put them to use up north?

80’s Late Bloomer: 1991 Audi 200 Avant

In our last feature, we preached that now is the time to buy (and maybe get a deal on) a "non traditional" winter car. We're ignoring our own advice now as we showcase one of the consummate snow cars of the late 80s and early 90s. In a time before SUVs were common, the mountain roads leading to ski resorts from Colorado to Vermont were crawling with these luxo-snowmobiles - and for good reason.

Winter is Coming: 1997 Audi A6 with V8 Conversion

September 27, 2016 audi, v8, quattro

A V8 Audi wagon isn't that rare of a beast. Even with a manual, there's no shortage of 2000's era S4s that will tick all of those boxes. If you're looking for something a bit more vintage with all of those attributes though things get a little bit tougher, and you may need to get creative like this seller did.

We Know We Shouldn't: 2003 Audi Allroad

We've been down this path before -- seduced by an AWD wagon with a 6 speed to boot. We had an 8 month experience with a similarly equipped Allroad that ended with us happily passing it along to another enthusiast with bi-turbo stars in their eyes. Enough time has passed now that we're crazy enough to think maybe the Allroad is a good idea again.

Little Blue Bi-Turbo: 2000.5 Audi S4 Avant

May 26, 2016 audi, s4, wagon

This lightly modded S4 Avant looks great in Santorin Blue over two-tone leather and alcantara seats. Low-ish miles, subtle mods, and some recent service could make this a good choice for someone looking for a B5 S4 wagon. Even with all that, and the fact that clean examples are getting more rare, we're not sure about the $10,000 asking price.

A VW in Audi Clothing: 2005 Audi Allroad TDI Diesel Conversion

Normally these kinds of conversions give us pause but this one looks to be neatly done, and more importantly swaps the troublesome Audi bi-turbo V6 with a workhorse 2.0 liter VW TDI. If you're willing to put some faith in the folks at Ottostadt Motorwerks, this could be the Allroad that should have been. Thanks to Dimitry B for the tip on this one.

The One to Have: 1985 Audi 4000S Quattro

Our feelings about the Audi 4000 are no secret so for $6,500 this well preserved example has us calculating shipping costs from Seattle. This 4000 has low miles, looks to be well taken care of, and is nicely optioned. On top of that, the 85's were the first to receive the updated styling that still looks good to this day.

The 90's Dream Wagon : 1990 Audi 200 Avant

With 200,000 miles on it, this 1990 Audi 200 Avant has its share of bumps and bruises but even 25 years later its design is still striking. We remember when we first saw the complicated spoiler-split rear glass with the gigantic "quattro" defroster lines and even now we wouldn't mind seeing it our own garage.

Better than an E30: 1987 Audi 4000CS Quattro

February 20, 2016 audi, 4000cs, awd

We know that it might be an inflammatory statement, but we're going to go ahead and say it. E30's get all of the the love when it comes to late-80's Germans but we'd take a 4000CS over the BMW any day.

Hot Rod Winter Beater: 2002 Audi S4 Avant

February 19, 2016 audi, s4, wagon

Even though it's 15 years old, and a bit hampered by an automatic, we think this 2002 Audi S4 would be the ultimate winter beater. For $3,500 we'd roll the dice on a a bi-turbo with 200k miles on it. Even if you only get a season or two out of it, it would still be worth it to say you had a near supercar as your winter ride.

What could go wrong? High Mileage 2003 Audi Allroad

January 12, 2016 audi, german, wagon

We at Moto Roster HQ were seduced and burned by a similar 6-speed Allroad a few years back. Maybe this one with double the miles and lots of performance mods would serve us better?
