This low mileage 2003 Eurovan is enticing enough with the best-of-both-worlds Weekender package that allows for comfortable camping without sacrificing daily van functionality. Adding what's billed as a 2016 pop top camper that has been retrofitted from another Eurovan makes for a great combo that can tackle anything from soccer practice to months long road trips.
We love the Moto Roster Vanagon Syncro that's currently in the garage, but it terms of practicality and safety it leaves a little something to be desired. We've been finding ourselves drawn to Eurovan's lately for their styling that has taken us about 15 years to appreciate as well as niceties like ABS and airbags.
Growing up we always wanted a VR6, and we assumed it would be in a GTI not a minivan but such is life. This one has only 86K miles on it and was brought to NJ from California by the current seller. It's said to have zero rust and to have been "meticulously maintained and serviced." We like the stance with a lift provided by heavy duty Bilstein shocks and what look to be 16 inch Mercedes rims.
For times when the Weekender package doesn't provide all of the amenities needed for life on the road, this sale comes with an entire "2016 Westfalia Full Camper PopTop Trailer." We've seen lots of homemade builds like this one where a van (or wagon) donates its rear 3/4 to become a trailer but this one looks to be extremely well executed.
The interior of the camper looks brand new and well thought out with a full kitchen, water tank, and both vehicle and land power with the requisite inverter. A 2 inch lift and wheels match the lead vehicle perfectly and make for a very nice package. Trailer brakes are a nice addition and are a small indicator as to the thoughtfulness of this build. This wasn't a "I've got an old EuroVan laying around out back I could hack up" deal.
The seller says that this rig is easily capable of 80 MPH+ cruising speeds and that the transmission has just been serviced in preparation for towing duty. He goes onto say that it is an "absolute pleasure to be driven. Tracks dead straight, without even a hint of wondering, swaying, bouncing, or jerking on the hitch thanks to the Heavy-Duty Suspension and proper weight distribution. Brakes extremely straight and tight thanks to the Trailer Brake Package. Extremely easy to drive on the highway or maneuver around town."
We're sold. Bidding is around $15,000 with three days left. 15k probably wouldn't even buy you the Weekender by itself in this condition so we wouldn't be surprised if the reserve isn't close to double where we're at now.
