We've been down this path before -- seduced by an AWD wagon with a 6 speed to boot. We had an 8 month experience with a similarly equipped Allroad that ended with us happily passing it along to another enthusiast with bi-turbo stars in their eyes. Enough time has passed now that we're crazy enough to think maybe the Allroad is a good idea again.
This 2003 Audi Allroad looks incredibly clean inside and out with the green-gray paint looking shiny and incident free. With only 55,000 miles that's to be expected but still nice to see.
The two-tone interior has always been a bit of a downer to us, especially when complemented by the abundant wood accents, but it is undoubtedly luxurious and roomy. The built in sunshades on the rear windows are nice to have, and the rear cargo cover remains which is nice as it has become an extremely pricey piece to replace.
The air struts up front have been replaced with factory units but no mention is made as to the condition of the rear air bags or compressor. New brakes and rotors up front and fresh Continental tires should offer some (very much needed) peace of mind for any potential buyer. We've never seen the rear parking sensor in these early Allroads, but the seller claims it is a factory option.
This Allroad is for sale by a dealer in New Jersey and they mention that it was traded in over a year and a half ago. We wonder if it has been sitting on the lot since then, or if maybe it has served as an overpriced parts delivery vehicle?
Even with the low miles, the asking price of $13,499.00 strikes us as a bit high. For equal money you can buy one of many "tuned" Allroads on the market. You're rolling the dice either way in terms of reliability and repair expense so if you're not after perfect paint, it might be looking at some of the "Stage X" Allroads for sale out there.
Press your luck by buying this Audi Allroad on eBay for $13,499.
