This 1958 International Harvester A120 has received an interesting flatbed-over-tailgate customization that we can't recall ever seeing before. We'd love to know if this was built for a specific purpose, or just to scratch an itch. Either way, we dig it.
We see more A110's around than A120's and this one looks imposing with its 38" tires and raised flat bed making for a taller than normal appearance. The storage area underneath the flat bed is accessible via a half tailgate. The setup could would work well for hauling bikes up top and having room for equipment and ramps underneath.
That said, the length of the bed would limit you to some pretty short ramps. Combine that with the height of the truck and you might have some aggressive approach angles trying to get bikes up there. We've never been ones to let practicality get in the way of things though.
This beefier A120 is well suited for it's flatbed hauling possibilities compared to a 110. The 4 speed with granny gear combined with 4WD should give you plenty of grunt to get out of any situation or towing challenge. The big tires may give you a few 100 RPM to play with on the highway, but we wouldn't imagine this to be a great freeway cruiser.
Beyond the "custom" bed, the motor has been "completely gone through" and a new water pump, carb, and master cylinder (not specified which) have been added. New gas lines and a dropped (and we assume boiled?) tank are nice for peace of mind. The engine compartment looks to be clean and tidy from the shots provided.
Inside the cabin the bench seat has been recovered and all original glass remains. We agree with the seller that the clearance (and bed) lights do set things off nicely.
We're not sure what we could do with this truck, but we do like the picture in our heads of this thing hauling a couple of dirt bikes. Maybe someone can take things to the next level, convert it into a tilt bed and use it as a hauler for their belly racer.
