Details are scare on this 1960 Jeep FC-170 offered for sale in Amarillo, TX. It looks like its current use is an advertising vehicle which may not bode well for mechanical condition, but even so, it could be a great start for an FC project.
The "market" for FC's is all over the place -- we see rusty non-runners asking over 10k and then some seemingly presentable examples for only $4,500. This FC we're featuring is asking $7,500 and the seller claims that he has over $15,000 into it.
The cab has been blasted to bare metal and repainted. We like the solid color everywhere, even though there would have been white accents from the factory. The frame received a similar reconditioning though no shots of it are shown.
Interior shots are through the glass which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence, but there's not much to these interiors anyway.
The seller has been "refurbishing" for 3 years and lists the following as complete in addition to the bodywork: "Rebuilt Bed and New Wood, New Glass and Rubber, New Radiator, New Fuel Tank Lines, New Brake lines, Rebuilt steering box" -- a decent mix aesthetic work and mechanical which makes us think maybe this is a runner (or not too far from being one.)
The only major "to do" left according to the seller is new wiring. We would imagine the old stuff may have been removed with an eye towards a 12v conversion. In any case, these are simple trucks and with the right parts sourced, all new wiring shouldn't me more than a day in the garage.
This one is listed as a 8 cylinder, which we believe would have come in the 180, not the 170 some explanation may be needed.
