Like the GTI itself, this one is pretty self explanatory. A 1983 GTI that has been in the same family for the last 30 years and looks to be remarkably original. After 150k miles this GTI still has original paint, a clean interior, and 14 inch snowflake wheels look better than our 2013 "Detroit's" in every way.
Currently for sale on TheSamba for $3,995, this GTI looks to be in well preserved, well used condition. Nothing restored or refurbed, just driven and maintained. Based on the brief history given, we're guessing this GTI has spent most of its life in Tennessee and avoided the harsh Northern winters that have been the downfall of much VW sheetmetal.
The paint looks good but between some creative angles, and the Samba-sized photos, there is something going on on the passenger side that would need further investigation.
The singular engine bay photo is of a strut tower which is clean and rust free. The interior is our prefered blue and red velour and looks to be in good shape. A sunroof car wouldn't be our first choice, but we wouldn't deter us if we were in the market for a first gen GTI.
Like we said, short and sweet. We know there are a few first gen GTIs on some rosters so this may be a good chance for a Moto Roster member to pick one up. Find this one on TheSamba for $3,995.
