We feature plenty of these "classic" Range Rovers but this one has a lot going for it including: low mileage, no rust, and some nicely executed off-road mods. Add to that a location that's an easy drive from Moto Roster HQ and a reasonable reserve and we're itching to cross a LWB Land Rover off of our Roster.
This 1993 Range Rover "spent most of its life in Texas", served a brief stint in PA and now resides with its current owner in Ohio. We believe this one is "Roman Bronze" which is a color that was discontinued in 1993 so this may be one the last trucks to wear it.
If we had our druthers we'd want a SWB in the garage, but we're not too picky and there is something to be said for the LWB -- especially if you have frequent passengers in the rear seats.
The original owner outfitted this Rover with some nicely-done off road equipment: most notably the front and rear ARB air lockers along with an accessible compressor line for in-the-field airing. Custom front and rear bumpers look nicely done without screaming "let's go mudding." The snorkel is a but much for our taste, but now that there is a hole in the bumper we'd probably leave it.
No mention is made of the suspension but some springs are visible in the photos so it seems like the airbags have been deleted. There also looks to be an inch or two of lift in the suspension which would make sense along with the other mods.
For all of the off-road upgrades, this truck is wearing some pretty pedestrian looking Michelin all season tires which are probably quiet, and practical but we'd need to order some BFG's ASAP. We dig the color-matched 5 spoke wheels.
In keeping with the low mileage, the interior looks extremely clean. Of interest is the steering wheel which looks to be from a much earlier Range Rover. We like it, but we'd be interested in the story there. The controls for the front and rear lockers are subtly installed but you'll want to be careful turning on that front seat heater.
This truck has a reserve of $9,000 which seems reasonable if the mileage can be confirmed and things look to be as neat as photos would have us believe. The seller is passing along this off-roader due to lack of garage space -- a pain we feel to. If we had room in our garage (and budget) we'd be working a deal to pick this one up this weekend.
