We've got a Super 7 / Caterham of some sort on our roster, but those street-legal rides look like Cadillacs compared to this homemade track car. We're not sure how we could justify buying this, we'd love to tear up PIR with this thing.
If someone told us they bought a pre-thrashed, track only, hand-built "Lotus 7" powered by a Hayabusa engine, we'd laugh. But after seeing the components and thought that went into this build, we're on board.
This build is about 10 inches shorter and 5 inches wider than a real Lotus. Combine that with some F1-inspired Hoosiers at both end and we're curious about what this does at the limits. We're thinking it's grip all the way until it lets go all at once. No mention is made about the frame underneath this thing, but we like the Wilwood brakes and Toyota GTS rear end. We LOVE the front brake cutoff and adjustable bias and it really makes this car a great on-track learning tool.
We prefer race on Sunday, drive on Monday so a dedicated track car is a tough sell for us, but for the right price this would be a great toy. Or, depending how friendly your state's DMV is, maybe buy a light kit and try to get some plates on this thing as a custom build.
