While the Travelette's get a lot of love from us for their quirky quad-cab layout, this C-1000 is about as pure an expression of "just truck" as has ever been committed to steel.
This two owner International presents well with 60,000 original miles what is claimed to be a 20 year old repaint in the factory color. White bumpers are always a favorite of ours and the chrome and red wheels complete the look.
Under the hood the 6 cylinder looks clean and even the sticker with valve adjustment information has lasted for 50 years. A few new hoses, wires, and service items are visible but it looks like this IH has avoided any creative additions or lazy electrical that often accumulates over the years.
Speaking of under the hood, the 140 horsepower should be plenty for any real work this little half ton pickup is called upon for.
Inside things look equally neat with the seller highlighting just about every possible electrical function as being in order including self cancelling turn signals. The extremely accessible and well labeled fuse box is a breath of fresh air and we dig the climate control in the form of an under dash fan.
No information is provided about the column-mounted manual transmission but we believe it would be a 3 speed. IH experts can chime in as things get a bit murky for us with all of the different models, weights, and options.
For us, this is the perfect little vintage work truck. Cheery enough to be mistaken for a character from "Cars" but capable enough for 90% of the jobs we would throw at it.
This little red truck is on eBay with the reserve not met, but in doing some digging it looks like the seller was asking $8,500 for it.
We don't think that's too far off for a low mileage survivor like this. Most have either been used as intended and returned to the earth, or are restored to too-nice-to-use condition.
