What this GMC van lacks in speed, it makes up for in just about every other category. With a new crate motor paired up with a period Pathfinder 4x4 conversion, it will get you just about anywhere. That said, you might still need to keep an eye on the 33 gallon tank to make sure you have enough fuel for it to get you back.
This 1 ton van looks great with a red repaint, 8 lug black wheels, meaty BFGs, and the aggressive stance thanks to the good people at Pathfinder 4x4. Chrome bumpers still shine, and the towing hitch adds even more utility.
The new crate motor actually does look new, unlike lots of other listings where new means "new to this vehicle." We're not sure what necessitated a new motor with 66k miles on the clock but we're not complaining. We'd normally guess that those were hard miles, but the the condition of the rest of the van makes us think otherwise.
Inside, the red continues everywhere. The seller jokes that he (or she)" ... assume[s] the van was owned by a down pillow factory, as nothing has ever marred the cargo floor." It does look very clean so we would be curious about this van's past life. That said, we wouldn't hesitate to add some tie downs and use this as the perfect dirtbike hauler.
The undercarriage looks clean with newish mufflers, and the original rustproofing still showing in some places. The big Monroe shocks look new and the Pathfinder transfer case setup looks simple enough but may still have the guys at the driveline shop taking photos.
We love our VW Syncro, but if we were looking to up our 4x4 game, this might be the only way to go.
