Usually, a snorkel and diamond plate cladding on a "Defender" is enough to turn us away -- not to mention the price that these newer trucks command. This 110 pickup however has enough going for it to make us take a second look and pretend that we're in the market for a 30k truck. Is this one the real deal, or is it just $5,000 worth of paint and tires hiding much more trouble?
Photos provided by the seller show an extremely presentable truck with shiny green paint, black Wolf rims, new tires, and a new interior.
The left hand drive, redone interior includes heated and half-leather Land Rover XS seats which look to be a perfect mix of ruggedness and comfort. We're glad this truck escaped the scourge of quilted upholstery that seems to be consuming many Land Rover refurbs.
Inside, the truck has been lined with a textured product that looks to be well done but can be a red flag for some due to how well it can (temporarily) hide issues.
The seller says that the truck has a very smooth running 2.5 liter turbo diesel, but no photos are shown of the engine bay. The seller notes a couple of drops of oil from the motor and says that he can provide any specific photos.
Along those lines, there are no shots of the undercarriage but the seller says that is has been Waxoyled and that there are no rust issues. Waxoyl, like the textured interior liner is perfectly fine if the underlying surfaces are known and trusted beforehand. We have no reason to believe the seller is trying to pull anything but, as always, thorough inspection is necessary.
The lightweight Williams canopy looks to be in good shape and could add utility for the right buyer, but we're thinking it would just end up hanging in our garage.
This seller seems to run a Rover import / garage and appears to have had lots of good looking trucks on offer in the past. 30k is steep, but if things look as good underneath and in the engine bay as they do outside, it could be a strong buy for someone looking to stand out in the Home Depot parking lot as well as at Cars and Coffee.
