We've had some hits and misses with our continued mash up of machine learning and motors, and we can't imagine how many CPU cycles we have burned. That said, we feel like we're really starting to make progress when we see this at the top of our "recommended" queue. A baby-blue Syncro panel van? You really get us TensorFlow.
We've seen this van somewhere before (maybe eBay or The Samba?) and it looks to be a high quality build. With just about every bauble you could want and no reserve price, it will be interesting to see where this one lands.
The panel van setup isn't for everyone but it looks striking with new blue paint, big steel bumpers, and a South African grill / headlight setup. The street tires on the 16 inch Mercedes-style wheels look a little wimpy, but the seller says that it comes with another set of wheels with offroad rubber.
Inside, there are nice looking Recaros that we can't quite place the origin of along with a steering wheel from an early 90's VW. The rear is set up for camping at the moment but nothing looks too permanent.
Mechanically, it has a "New Custom 2.1WBX Gas Engine with a Mild Cam", a 5 speed transmission, new clutch, and a dual locker 4x4 setup. Other nice additions are a new exhaust, OME shocks, skid plates, and a towing package.
The seller says that this setup will do 80 on the highway comfortably which, if true, is a testament to the 5 speed and new motor because our tired 2.1 liter Syncro is pretty much tapped out at 65 on flat ground.
The seller lists this van as a 1980, and doesn't provide a VIN number so there's some question as this VW's exact origin and age, but we are more than curious given the work that has gone into this rig. If you're near Cherry Hill, NJ - take a look at thisSyncro that’s for sale on eBay and let us know.
