We see these Brazilian Land Cruiser variants offered occasionally in the US but not nearly as much as their Central American import cousins. The Bandeirantes have slightly different styling, but we're intrigued by the youth of this truck which is new to the states thanks to the 25 year import rule.
This one will undoubtedly go for real money, but it will be worth it. The quad cab layout is rarely seen and extremely flexible. We've never been crazy about the grill and headlight setup on these but that's a very minor complaint.
The OM364 diesel 4 cylinder is mated to an upgraded 5 speed (replacing the stock 4 speed) and the turbo looks newer though no mention is made of it. Horsepower is more than sufficient at 114. Torque is the strong point of this motor and it should be thoroughly ridiculous at low RPM.
Outside things look clean and straight and the seller says "doors shut like a lock box, and all body parts fit great. The bed is in great condition displaying only a few scrapes and chips." We like the stock suspension and 16 inch wheels. The 33 inch MT tires are a good size and look appropriate but may be a bit aggressive for tarmac duty.
Inside the new vinyl seat covers, headliner, and instrument cluster look almost too clean but we're not complaining. Ample undercarriage shots show an extremely clean underside and make us think that the restoration that was performed a few years ago was frame off.
We like everything here - the crew cab flexibility, turbo diesel power, and fact that it's basically an J40 but was born in the 90's. We won't like the price, but we can't argue it.
