This 1971 International Harvester Travelall 1110 is labeled as a "desert find" by the seller, and it looks as if the dry air has been kind to it. It’s in generally not-messed-around-with condition and has received a minor shakedown / refresh. She’s ready to be further sorted and resume a life of travelling all.
Described as "super solid" by the seller, this Travelall is nicely equipped with the 345ci V8, 4WD, power steering, and AC that could possibly be pressed back into service. It looks to be a solid, dry base that has received a nice bit of work to make her roadworthy again. More importantly, beyond some lights and a respray it looks uncut, unlifted, and original.
The carb has been rebuilt, radiator recored, and the fuel system has been refurbed including a newly dipped tank. A new fuel pump and sending unit were also fitted meaning that the fuel gauge actually works on this thirsty truck. The brakes are said to "work fine" but a full check and service would be money and time well spent.
Outside, things look as to be expected after 45 years of wear but appear generally rust free and original. Inside things haven't fared quite as well with seats that need to be recovered and a headliner that needs to be replaced. Beyond those issues, and the original green showing, everything looks neat and clean.
The headliner is easy enough to sort and we feel like these IH's actually look best with seat covers so we’d find something period appropriate and roll with it. We’re thinking Navajo print.
New 31 inch mud tires are a bit aggressive for our taste / usage but new tires are new tires so we'd live with them until wear necessitated new rubber. BFG Rugged Terrain's would be our preference for this application but there will be no shortage of options for the 15 inch wagon wheels.
The seller seems honest in his representation and provides a long disclaimer that makes us think he has been burned before on this type of thing. No guarantees are made about "every gauge, light, option, etc." working as you would expect with of a vehicle with this history. That said, the electric rear window does work, which for us is a good sign.
