This 1969 Suburban C20 was built in Fremont and spent its whole life with one family in Hermosa Beach. Showing only 63,000 miles, it looks like life in Southern California has treated this big 4x4 pretty well.
We'd hate to shock this Chevy's beach-side blood by bringing it back East to Moto Roster HQ, but we are very tempted. Well specced from the start, the factory AC meant that it was perfect for the beach, and the 4WD meant that it was ready for Tahoe ski weekends too. The 3/4 ton chassis has received a few nice additions including heavy duty springs, a custom tow hitch, dual exhaust, and a brush guard. We love the folding grab step on the rear pillar and it gives us visions of sitting on the roof of the truck drinking a beer at the beach.
We believe the 350 would have been the largest of the small blocks available in 69 and the truck received a clean bill of health a few weeks ago. We like the 350 paired up to 4 speed, especially when the low range 4WD is needed. An engine rebuild from 1985 is mentioned but at this point is something of a moot point. The truck however is claimed to be "maintained almost to excess."
The interior is incredibly clean and includes unique custom mahogany storage boxes in the back and an interesting rope-wrapped interior rack for surfboards. It looks to be a great balance of a truck that was built to be used (and was) but very well maintained. It's a minor thing but we take the fact that the 4x4 shifting instruction sticker has lasted on the dashboard for over 45 years as a good sign.
An "extensive professional repaint" is listed and, though no date is mentioned, it looks good in photos against white bumpers and oversized tires. No shots of the underside are shown, but we don't doubt that it's as tidy as the rest of this truck.
If you can't tell we love it. It has a buy it now price of $23,500 which is out of our "play money" budget but seems about right. We might have to start driving Uber to start a fund to buy this C20. Pick up this Suburban in Hermosa Beach, CA on eBay.
