We don't know a lot about these International cab over models, but that doesn't stop us from wanting it. It's like a Jeep FC on steroids that traded 4WD for cargo capacity.
Specifics are thin on this rig, but it looks like the current owner put it to use on the car show and cruise circuit where we're sure it drew crowds. The orange repaint looks good and has enough age on it to not appear out of place.
A 5 speed on the column is a few more gears than we are used to seeing up there but they were probably put to real use during this truck's working days. Combine that with a 2 speed electric rear end and you've got 10 forward speeds at your disposal if the need to split gears arises.
Recent service includes wheel cylinders, brake lines, master cylinder, hoses, belts, water pump, windshield, and 6 new radial tires. Just the tires and wheel cylinders on their own would be a significant outlay so it's nice to see maintenance being kept up with. The gas tank looks new, the frame looks to have been painted, and modern brake lights are there too but there's no mention of those in the ad.
The 345 gas motor would have been the smallest engine that IH offered in the Loadstar line. A line that included a huge range of options including diesels provided by Caterpillar.
We feature some impractical vehicles on Moto Roster and this is definitely one of them. All the same, if we had the money, space, and even the slightest inkling of what to do with this thing we'd love to have it in our fleet.
Find this IH on eBay in Peterborough, Ontario. The seller says that there are no fees to bring this beast across the border due to classic plates, and we'd like to see the look on the face of the customs agent when you roll up to the booth in this.
