We've featured some more stellar examples of these rare 6-speed 5 series wagons before, but this one is more in the bargain category. It has plenty of bumps and bruises on the outside and non trivial mileage, but some recent service and an $8,000 buy it now price makes us think we could be riding in style this winter.
The unblemished parts of this wagon look good in (what we assume is) Titanium Gray which we prefer over the blacks and silvers we normally see. There are plenty of dents (some non trivial) and a "minor issue" reported on the AutoCheck, but after 10 years and 167k miles who doesn't have some issues?
The real draw here is the wagon + 6-speed + AWD combination. These were rare when new and are only becoming harder to come by so if you're in the market for a luxury wagon with 3 pedals, you may have to accept some baggage that comes with it. We're ok with the issues this wagon brings to the table, especially when it also brings a recent major clutch service complete with a flywheel and throwout bearing along with a main rear seal.
Inside things look better than could be expected, though long after the Bangle-era design controversies have mellowed the "wood" trim continues to haunt these BMWs. Though highly specced, we'd be worried about how this wagon's iDrive system has aged. The lone CD slot in the center console plants this 2007 firmly in an awkward transition era.
The 18 inch replica wheels would have to immediately be swapped out for the stock 5 spokes and the window tint would be the next to go. Other than that, we'd try to source some steel wheels big enough to clear the brakes, mount some Blizzaks on them, and put this wagon into full blown snow duty.
