This 1992 Miata has low-ish miles, a good color combo, and most interestingly a supercharger bolted on to its stock 1.6 liter engine. Upping the HP on an already light car is an equation we're always fans of. Thanks to MR reader Drew for the backyard find.
Even without the upgrades or extra parts this Miata stands out with less than 90k on the clock and a somewhat rare black and tan color scheme. Inside the tan continues and things look well cared for. The wooden wheel isn't something that we're usually a fan of but it looks good and adds to that British-roadster-via-Japan feel.
Under the hood, the stock 1.6 liter engine has received an upgrade in the form of an unspecified supercharger. It sounds like it was fitted by a previous owner and no real details are given, but things look factory clean with all necessary plumbing looking to be well executed. We'd make a guess and say that it's a Jackson Racing supercharger kit but to say that's an uneducated guess is being polite.
Additional upgrades include Koni yellow shocks and a Hard Dog roll bar. More goodies are also part of the sale including a "CX Racing turbocharger kit for a 1.6 Miata", another MegaSquirt ECU, and a second set of wheels with new tires.
Which brings us to the possible issues. Rollbars, Koni shocks, superchargers, turbochargers, extra wheels all point to track time for this little roadster, or at least some sort of club competition. Things still look clean and shiny outside so we don't think this one saw much open racing, but even single-car timed events are stressful for a car. Add to that an engine making 40% more power than stock and we'd want to check the condition of the clutch, transmission, and brakes before we went all in on this one.
This racey Miata is for sale on Craigslist north of Pittsburgh, PA. $8,900 with all of the included parts isn't too far off as you can probably sell off the turbo and wheels if you're not going to put them to use.
