It's hard to argue with the attention to detail that went into restoring this 1995 Range Rover Classic. New paint and upholstery look showroom new, but the work that has gone into this SUV goes way beyond the surface. Swapping a refreshed 4.2L engine into this SWB is a move we've never seen but we appreciate the effort. This thing looks like it just rolled out of the showroom in 1995, so crank up the Hootie and the Blowfish and take a trip back in time.
An extensive list of upgrades, replacements, and repairs is provided totalling over $25,000. Some of the prices jump out as a little high, but there's no arguing that a lot of time and money went into this truck, and that no expense was spared. Of particular interest to us is $5,000 worth of engine work that included swapping in a 4.2L unit with 62k miles on it. It’s impressive to keep that level of originality considering the other motors that could have gone in there for less money.
An Old Man Emu shock / genuine spring conversion is normally the only upgrade we expect to see in these, and this has it even if it gets lost amongst the massive amount of other work. While we love BFG A/T's, we agree with the seller that the OEM Michelins are right for this ride and we are a bit surprised that they can still be sourced.
A new interior and headliner have things looking (and we're sure smelling) factory fresh, and the repaint lives up to the seller's description in pictures. This Rover has everything going for it, and it will be interesting to see what it sells for. A seemingly no reserve auction, we guess that the seller is confident in what this rig will bring.
The seller makes an interesting comments about the long-idolized Defenders perhaps now seeming so great compared to their more suburban brothers as time goes on. We don't disagree, but we'd still love to have both this Rover and the Spanish 109 from last week. in our garage.
