0-60 in 5.9 seconds is still impressive in 2016, imagine what it was like 30 years ago in this 1986 944 Turbo.
We had a 1987 944 in the Moto Roster garage for a while that we loved. Great handling, the pinnacle of 80's hatchback styling, and one of the best cockpits out there. Our NA was a bit slow though, and knowing that the minivan at the light next to you could dust you off the line was unsettling. The turbo is the answer to that problem.
While an 80's red Porsche may increase scrutiny from the police, it's hard to argue with the impact. We prefer the phone dials over any other wheel, and though this 951 has high miles, that combined with its tidy appearance give us faith that it's a well cared for machine. That said, we will nitpick the painted Porsche imprint in the spoiler.
The interior looks tidy with the normal wear on the dash and rear seatbelts. We seem to recall 951's having larger bolsters on the seats, so we wonder if 944 seats were swapped in at some point.
No mention is made of timing belts so all of the normal caveats apply. Pictures can be deceiving, but the spoiler gap looks a little uneven to us -- given almost 30 years and 150k miles though, we'd expect it has seen some action. If this one passes a PPI and / or your test drive, we'd love to have it in our garage.
Find it here on eBay with a price of $9,500 in Willoughby, OH. The seller mentions that it's stored in his warehouse, and he also has a 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde Quadrifoglio for sale so we think it would be an interesting trip even if you didn't pull the trigger.
