Short and Stout: 1966 Toyota Stout

November 30, 2016 toyota, stout

Things are crazy busy at Moto Roster world HQ, but here's a small write up for an equally diminutive truck.

1995 Fresh: Range Rover Classic

March 01, 2016 range rover, 4x4

It's hard to argue with the attention to detail that went into restoring this 1995 Range Rover Classic. New paint and upholstery look showroom new, but the work that has gone into this SUV goes way beyond the surface. Swapping a refreshed 4.2L engine into this SWB is a move we've never seen but we appreciate the effort. This thing looks like it just rolled out of the showroom in 1995, so crank up the Hootie and the Blowfish and take a trip back in time.

Putting the W in VW: 2003 Volkswagen Passat W8

September 14, 2016 vw, w8, 6-speed

This W8 Passat would have been about the most ridiculous car in VW showrooms back in 2003 since it would be another year or so before the Phaeton came in with its big W12. With AWD, a 6-speed, and the W8 motor, the only other thing we could ask for would be the wagon body. We'll take what we can get though.

Fresh off the Boat: 1983 Mercedes Benz 230TE

April 23, 2016 mercedes, wagon

We don't see too many manual Mercedes wagons on our shores, let alone one with less than 40,000 miles on it. This nicely specced 1983 230TE was imported last year and looks neat and tidy. This is our second petrol Mercedes in as many days but this low mileage wagon is more than worth it.

Basic Baja Starter: 1970 VW Beetle

May 03, 2016 vw, beetle, baja

This 1970 Volkswagen Beetle has received a basic baja conversion, and looks like it could be a good base to build on from. Except for some rough sheet metal work in the engine compartment things look neat. An AZ street registration gives us hope we could get this thing plated in PA, but the logistics of doing so with a stinger exhaust may be tricky.

We Know We Shouldn't: 2003 Audi Allroad

We've been down this path before -- seduced by an AWD wagon with a 6 speed to boot. We had an 8 month experience with a similarly equipped Allroad that ended with us happily passing it along to another enthusiast with bi-turbo stars in their eyes. Enough time has passed now that we're crazy enough to think maybe the Allroad is a good idea again.

$12,500 Almost Defender: 1978 Land Rover 109 Santana

We're fans of the vehicles that the boys at Valencia Classic Vehicles import and based on their eBay account, it looks like they just had a ship come in - literally. They have a wide array of Spanish Santana's to choose from but this scruffy 109 driver caught our eye.

2 Owner Shooting Brake: 1973 Volvo P1800ES

Though the looks of the P1800 coupes are inarguably great, the ES can be a bit divisive. Shooting brakes aren't for everyone, and we can't imagine this in a 1973 showroom when the Ford dealer up the road was selling Torinos. Moto Roster loves all things wagon so you know where we stand, and this 2-owner, last model year P1800ES could be the one that brings the naysayers to the light.

Impulse Buy: 1977 Toyota BJ40

Though we've heard nothing but nightmare stories about these Costa Rican imports, this diesel Land Cruiser in South Carolina has us contemplating making some rash decisions. No reserve auctions with 0 bids and 2 hours left tend to do that when they involve vintage Japanese 4x4’s.

Air Cooled Bubble Deflating? 1976 Porsche 911 S

April 27, 2017 porsche, 911, 3.0

This 1976 911 S has deviated a fair bit from stock, but in a good way as far as we're concerned. The 2.7 liter motor has been replaced with the 3.0 from a later SC while retaining the 915 gearbox, and cosmetically a very light "R Gruppe" look has been attempted. The real draw here though is the $26,500 price tag attached to what sounds like a lot of air cooled fun.
